“The Journal’s mission is to support, promote and stimulate the exchange of ideas, scholarship and research within the field of body psychotherapy as well as to encourage an interdisciplinary exchange with related fields of clinical theory and practice.”The International Body Psychotherapy Journal, published twice a year, in the spring and the fall, is a collaborative publication of two sister body psychotherapy organizations:
EABP – European Association for Body Psychotherapy and It is peer reviewed by members of both associations, with experts from related fields. The Journal’s mission is to support, promote and stimulate the exchange of ideas, scholarship and research within the field of body psychotherapy as well as to encourage an interdisciplinary exchange with related fields of clinical theory and practice. The joint publication evolved from the USABP Journal in response to tremendous growth in the field of body psychotherapy worldwide over the past ten years. As the field continues to expand, the Journal’s aim is to broaden its readers’ horizons by inviting submissions of original theory, qualitative and quantitative research, experiential data, and case studies, as well as comparative and secondary analysis and literature reviews from clinicians and researchers practicing in all healthcare fields across the globe. |

The Editor-in-Chief: Jacqueline A. Carleton, Ph.D. is the founding editor. Dr. Carleton’s expertise has guided the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy Journal since its inception in 2001. The 10th anniversary edition appeared in 2011 and launched the transition into the International Body Psychotherapy Journal.
- The Journal is managed by an Editorial Committee with members from both body psychotherapy associations.
- The International Advisory Board gives valuable support to the Journal.
- Articles written in German can be submitted to the German Editorial Committee who peer reviews them in German and suggest whether or not they be translated for final submission. The Editor-in-Chief has the final decision.
- Each article is peer reviewed by at least three reviewers from the Peer Review Board before being accepted in a final form for publication. Peer reviewers are chosen for their knowledge and understanding of the body psychotherapy field as well as from other adjacent fields and their specific competencies related to the subjects dealt with in articles.
- When necessary the editorial committee seeks appropriate people who can read and evaluate papers in other languages.
- Article abstracts are available online in Albanian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian and Spanish.
