With Tina Stromsted, Ph.D. Jungian analyst & Dance Therapist

Assisted by Margareta Neuberger, MA

Tuscany, Italy – June 24-30, 2017

At a time when the world is being pulled apart by opposites, this retreat offers an opportunity to consult our inner compass. Here one can find re-orientation, strengthen inner authority, and nourish body and soul. Offering a sanctuary for centering, we will find renewal through natural movement, stillness, dream work, and guiding elements from Alchemy’s ancient wisdom, re-membering our deep humanity in the vital web of community.

How do we evoke the light in the dark body? How do we embody the soul spark, bring it to consciousness, and live it more fully in our daily lives? Authentic Movement and dreamwork allow access to these rich inner resources on a cellular level, reawakening our natural rhythms, instinctual wisdom, and the songs of the soul.

This international retreat will explore the impactful role of embodied experience in the healing process. Alchemy’s basic elements can deepen our understanding of embodied transformation, experienced spontaneously through the practice of Authentic Movement. Dreams carry treasures that enhance the meaning and depth of this spirited journey.

The Alchemists’ aim was to study nature and to learn from its profoundly regenerative capacities. So too, dreams reflect our inner landscape, our spiritual condition. This workshop engages dreams and Alchemy in relation to bodily experience in the process of healing and transformation through moving and witnessing practice.

We will draw from:

BodySoul® Work
Jungian Theory
Somatics
Dreaming
Drawing
Voice exploration
Writing

Studio sessions will be supplemented by seminars focusing on questions arising from your personal explorations, as well as applications relevant to your creative and professional work.

This retreat is designed for those with a depth of experience in Authentic Movement, welcoming healing practitioners, clinicians, educators, artists, and those interested in growth and matters of the spirit.

Nestled in Tuscany’s beautiful rolling hills and vineyards, the private retreat center offers a peaceful, inspiring setting for self-renewal. Walking trails, delicious Tuscan cooking and a swimming pool enhance the experience.

13 CEUs for MFTs and LCSWs (PCE #4456)

When clients get stuck in shame, the most powerful way to help them get unstuck may be to activate their imagination. In the Imaginal Realm, logic and time are fluid and flexible. What actually happened can be explored and changed. What was stuck in the cognitive realm can be reexamined and shifted. Shaming situations from the past can be revisited and resolved. In this workshop, we will utilize techniques from Drama Therapy, Focusing, Expressive Arts Therapy, Jungian creative imagination and Hakomi. We will explore the critical voices and/or the childhood scenes that are still driving the internal shame dynamic in the client. Once the shame is worked through in the Imaginal Realm the client can interact with the world differently.

What is Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP)?

Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP) considers every approach to psychotherapy as valuable and understands them all as components of a broad unifying framework built on Eastern and Western psychologies. It offers clinicians from diverse therapeutic modalities the possibility of increasing treatment efficiency through greater embodiment of all levels of the psyche.

All human experiences (perceiving, thinking, feeling, remembering, imagining, evaluating, relating, and responding) arise from our individual gross (i.e. physical) and quantum level subtle (i.e. energy) bodies that are in constant interaction with the dynamic collective gross and subtle bodies contained in an absolute collective body of pure awareness. Though valuable, the focus on the brain and to a lesser extent on the individual gross (physical) body as the beginning and end of all of our experiences has severely limited Western psychology’s comprehension of the larger domain in which human experiences originate; and has greatly diminished its ability to help those in need. Regardless of the psychotherapy approach we use in our practice, we can help our clients better with their cognitive, emotional, behavioral, relational, as well as somatic and spiritual difficulties, if we know more of the following:

a) how the three layers of the individual gross body, the five layers of the individual subtle body, the dynamic collective gross and subtle bodies, and the absolute collective body of pure awareness interact with each other to generate our experiences;
b) how the individual gross and subtle bodies can get dysregulated from difficult experiences and become disconnected from each other and from the three collective bodies and become symptomatic in many ways; and
c) how to make the individual gross and subtle bodies more available, regulated, balanced, and in better relationship with each other and with the three collective bodies while we work with our clients psychologically.

The value of ISP will be demonstrated especially through topics of current clinical interest: attachment, affect regulation, stress, and trauma.
Who can benefit the most from this training?

Because it is a professional master training for experienced clinicians, the prerequisites for admission are high:

a) an active professional practice in psychotherapy, bodywork, energywork, or education of individuals or groups, work that involves psychological processing,
and
b) an adequate somatic background such as participation in the Somatic Experiencing (SE) training or equivalent training and personal knowledge of the body (determined on an individual basis).

ISP will prove to be of considerable value to you whether you are trained in a mainstream psychoanalytic or psychotherapy approach, a body-oriented psychotherapy approach (such as Bioenergetics or Sensori-Motor Psychotherapy), or a bodywork modality such as Polarity Therapy or Cranio-Sacral Therapy, or an energywork school, as long as your work also involves psychological processing.

What is taught in the training?

General principles derived from a variety of disciplines including neuroscience and quantum physics for integrating all the bodies into any psychological approach, validated empirically in multiple clinical settings and cultures.
It offers all those who work psychologically a sophisticated body of knowledge to further increase the embodiment of body, energy, and consciousness dimensions in their work without having to change their prior clinical orientations or adopt interventions outside the norms of their professional practice. The role of body, energy, and consciousness in generating or disrupting psychological experiences in general and facilitating or hampering self and interactive regulation in particular is taught through applications in areas of widespread current clinical interest: affect regulation, attachment, stress, and trauma.

ISP offers considerable flexibility and choice in the tools used, such as awareness, movement, breath, sound, imagery, inter-personal resonance, self touch, and other touch, as appropriate to the clinical setting of the trainee.

Join us for a lively and informative evening with Anne Isaacs, LCSW and Joel Isaacs, Ph.D., who will be talking about how understanding the psychological functions of muscles makes verbal psychotherapy more efficient and effective. As opposed to traumatic experiences, which are imprinted primarily in the autonomic nervous system, the Bodynamic model describes how all the lesser but cumulative developmental disruptions are imprinted mostly in the voluntary nervous system, the related muscles, and the mind. This refined therapy offers precise yet simple interventions for resolving your clients’ current issues, leaving them more resourced, with new psychological abilities.

Bodynamics is praised by Raja Selvam, PhD, Senior Somatic Experiencing Trainer as “probably the most body-oriented and comprehensive developmental psychology and character structure model there is”. Babette Rothschild, author of “The Body Remembers: The Psychophysiology of Trauma and Trauma Treatment”, has described Bodynamics as: “the most sensible, comprehensive, easily applicable and accessible personality theory that I have ever encountered.”

Bodynamics was developed from empirical research in Denmark over 25 years ago. This 17-day training is offered across North America by the Isaacs, who continue to develop and innovate this important work and its teaching. The webinar will introduce you to the use of Bodynamics, including some enlightening case studies and an overview of the training, for which CEU’s can be earned.

Healing Retreat

Is There Something That You Want to Heal ?

Join us for this uplifting and healing experiential weekend that helps you release traumas so you are able to live a fully engaged, feeling, thoughtful life. The weekend begins with naming what you would like to change in your life.

Over the course of the 3 days we will work together, utilizing the wisdom of the body and the power of the collective to release and shift these limitations and enhance our capacity to live a vibrant, joyful life – bringing us to a re-membering of ourselves.

Thurs afternoon, Nov. 3rd beginning at 4pm til Sunday, Nov. 6th, noon

Details: The retreat (3 nights and 4 days) opens at 4pm on Thursday, Nov. 3 in Truro, MA, at a beautiful house on the beach, with a Healing Circle, followed by a group dinner, which is included.

Format: there will be two Healing Circles per day, one in the morning and a second at some time later in the afternoon/evening with free time to explore the local area.

There will be a closing circle on our final morning, Sunday, Nov. 6th, before departure at noon.

Structure: The Healing Retreat opens on Day 1 with participants gathering in a circle to discover and share our intentions for healing and growth. The basic premise for these gatherings is a safe space to explore our suffering from something that couldn’t be handled. One of our purposes in life is to master these trauma. In fact, what we suffer about, on a deeper level, is an invitation to remembering and being in a different relationship with what couldn’t be handled.

What’s included: a room with an ocean view, with up to 8 participants (several more if couples share a bed), dinner the first evening, breakfast and lunch supplies, and 6 HEALING CIRCLES. While dinners are on our own (except for the first evening), we have discovered that many people choose to cook together while others find restaurants in the area.

Location: Truro, MA in a beautiful private home on Cape Cod

Presenters:
Andrew Hahn, Psy.D. & Joan Beckett, LMHC

Cost: $950. if registered by Oct.12, 2016, $1050. if after Oct. 12th, 2016.

Healing Developmental Disruptions: Experience the Precision of Bodynamic Therapy by learning to use the body to support verbal therapy

Evening Intro: (Sept 9, 2016 6:30pm – 8:30pm) Free

During this talk we’ll focus on the Autonomy Stage of Development; 8 months to 2.5 years of age. We’ll demonstrate how disruption during this stage creates a fear of commitment and dependency on others. We’ll demonstrate how to work with specific muscles to transform this internal experience. This can create an immediate sense of curiosity, joy, and creativity, typical of a healthy child at this age.

The presentation will include didactic and experiential work with time for questions.

One-day Workshop: (Sept 10, 2016 9:00am – 5:00pm) $75

Exploring the impact on adult behavior of disruptions in the Will Structure Stage, ages 2-4 years.

We will explore related developmental movements, and how the muscles involved hold needed resources for the resolution of therapeutic issues. We will offer demonstration sessions. Problems originating from this age include:

· Feeling overly responsible

· Blaming others

· Being stuck in a victim role

· Problems with planning

· Fear of your own power

Full training begins October 20, 2016

About Bodynamics:

Bodynamics is a precise and practical approach to working with the body to make verbal psychotherapy more efficient and effective. This somatic therapy enables the practitioner to make precise interventions related to the developmental origins of your clients’ current problems.

Based on a wealth of empirical research the Bodynamics model describes how non-traumatic developmental disruptions are encoded in both mind and body. Bodynamic trainees learn to use specific muscles to build somatic resources that will guide, extend, and contain verbal therapy. This precision aids clients to sense new psychological competencies, resolve issues sooner, and integrate these changes directly into their lives.

Learning Bodynamics also sensitizes you to the themes of the developmental stages around which relationships and psychological development take place. Building your relationship with a client around these themes will greatly facilitate your ability to heal attachment disruptions.

Melting the Shame Freeze:
Somatic Techniques to Create Safety and Build Attachment

A Mini-Workshop for Therapists & Helping Professionals

Saturday, September 24, 2016
1:00pm – 4:00pm

Corte Madera Town Center
770 Tamalpais Drive, Room 201

Shame is the embodied belief that “something is wrong with me.” Many clients—and therapists—are not aware of how unhealed shame can keep body and emotions frozen. Because shame exists in the body as well as the mind, it is helpful for therapists to work with shame somatically. In this workshop, we will explore how to utilize somatic techniques to connect more quickly and forge a therapeutic alliance with clients.

Preregistration with Marin CAMFT is necessary. For pricing and full details, visit the Events page at www.marincamft.org or www.marincamft.org/event-2270674.

This workshop provides essential, basic knowledge of how to work with shame.  We will learn what shame is and how it is created, and how to help our clients recognize shame, work through it and move on. We will become more sensitive to the shaming often implicit in the therapy situation and learn how to counter shame in therapy. We will be able to help clients separate feelings of shame from other emotions. And we’ll learn how to take clients back to early shaming situations and reverse the outcome, helping clients move their energy powerfully outward rather than turn it against themselves.

We are returning from our international teachings and look forward
to sharing our deep transformational work with you
at the world-renowned and magical setting of Esalen, Big Sur, California.

(Accommodation space is filling quickly, so please contact Esalen to register.)

This workshop is for individuals and couples. The work in Core Evolution® explores how the aspects of body, emotion, mind, consciousness interact with each other. The experience of love unifies all these aspects. A person in love and sexual harmony communicates and creates from a place of well-being, peace, joy, and a sense of fulfillment.

Participants will learn how to identify and differentiate the nature and main elements of love, sexuality, and relationship, and their intention, motivation, needs, and wants in their relationship with themselves and others. We will also discover the nature of triggers, causes of unhappiness, and also the possibility for change.

Cornelia and Siegmar create a safe space to look at important topics in life, while offering dynamic exploration, creative movement, and expression and mindful centering.

Many therapy clients do not come to therapy ready to open to their inner experience. They come feeling a lot of confusion and pain, with a problem in their feelings or their lives (or both) that they want to fix. How do we as Focusing-oriented therapists meet them where they are and help them move forward?  How do we not get caught in their habitual ways of defining themselves and their problems?

The beauty of Focusing-oriented therapy (FOT) is that it does not revolve around content. It revolves around the experiential process that is occurring within the client moment to moment in therapy, and the responses that we as the therapist give to this process. Course taught by phone. Oct 7 to Nov 4, 2016. 5 Fridays: 9:30AM – 10:45AM Pacific Time. $195 through end of day September 29.

7.5 CEU hours. Is Focusing a form of mindfulness practice? Is mindfulness a kind of Focusing? How can Focusing enhance mindfulness — and mindfulness enhance Focusing? What might it be like to do “mindful Focusing”?

The popular interest in mindfulness has exploded in recent years, yet it is also an ancient Eastern practice with thousands of years of history. In this new course, taught by a man who has been immersed in both mindfulness and Focusing for much of his life, we offer you the opportunity to explore how mindfulness and Focusing can enhance and support each other, in a new fusion of the two that David Rome calls “Mindful Focusing.” Course taught by phone. May 17 to June 14, 2016. 5 Tuesdays, 4:30PM – 6:00PM Pacific Time. $195 through end of day May 9.

The Joy of Aliveness as Foundation for Integration and Healing

Join us and rejuvenate in a personal retreat while deepening your learning in an inspiring environment with wonderful people in a beautiful villa in Tuscany.

Reconnect, affirm and strengthen your qualities and capacities.

These Intensives are open to beginners as well as experienced participants on the conscious path. Every year is a new experience with a new quality. The work is integrative, body-oriented and mindfulness-centered.

This year we include short teaching sequences that we lead into personal inquiries for participants to explore topics they bring and want to find more integration with:

Somatic Awareness and the Practice of Mindfulness
How do we structure our experiences on the level of our body, feelings, thinking, mind and in directing our will to realize our potential?

Explore the Matrix of Grounding
The Core Evolution concept to stand on the ground and feel connected to the Universe and to all existence.

Repression of Expression can cause Depression™
What was the personal dynamic that could not be expressed and lived? Which consequences did this have in the body-mind-field and what attitude and behavior resulted out of it?

The Body as the Temple of the Soul
How does the personal history become visible? In your personal development you formed inner working models, that influence your emotions, body reactions, thinking, behavior and beliefs. In our work we call them Personality Reactions Patterns™. They fulfilled an important need in your early development, but often are not adequate any more for who you are today.

By experiencing and observing body reactions, and understanding the underlying needs and learning how to nourish them, you can successfully learn to change these patterns*.
* Find more in-depth material in our 10-page curriculum for the training in Core Evolution – an Integrative Body-Oriented and Mindfulness-Centered Training.

Love is the Resonance with the Flow of Life™
Love as an energetic state. Whether you choose to be single or to be in relationship, you need to relate and communicate. Exploring needs and wants. Heart communication, intimacy, authenticity and healthy boundaries.

The experience of love unifies all these aspects and with that, effects every state of people’s lives. A person in love will communicate and create from a place of harmony, well-being, peace, joy and a sense of fulfillment. We open up for new choices in our thinking and behavior.

Watch an interview with Siegmar at www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlBXLAqnHho or inquire about the 8 page interview with Siegmar on this topic.

The Wild-Heart Meditation™
The dance of energy and consciousness – a movement exploration to celebrate life. A joy-filled, transformative process of inner and outer movement, including dance, authentic movement, creative expression, communication, meditation and more.

The essence of Core Evolution moves personal insight beyond therapy.
It is not about adapting or changing, but about understanding and becoming who you truly are.

2016 Fall Bioenergetic Conference
“Healing from the Inside Out: Relationship, Body & Mind”
Featuring Bioenergetic masters Bob & Virginia Hilton from CA.

Date/Time: October 20 – 23, 2016
Location: Essex Conference Center, MA
For more information and registration go to: www.massbioenergetics.org

As children, many of us had to compromise our aliveness and energy in order to feel loved and accepted by our parents. As adults, many of us struggle with low energy, anxiety, depression, and feelings of disconnection from others, resulting from how we deadened ourselves. In this conference, we will explore the state of aliveness in each of us and what blocks that aliveness from emerging. How did these blocks develop? What might the process of recovering this aliveness look like? In small groups, workshops, and keynote talks, we will explore these questions. Please join us at the serene and beautiful Essex Conference Center for a three day experience with Bioenergetic therapists, trainers, and partners, Robert and Virginia Hilton.

MSBA-2016-CONFERENCE-2016-04-24 – PDF Flyer

By actively working with the body in therapy, (in addition to talking), we can help our clients uncover emotions, beliefs and experiences that may be blocked and unavailable to their consciousness. This gives us more tools to assist them in accessing a deeper sense of calm, developing more ways to respond to people and situations and increase their capacity to fully experience life. This workshop will be experiential and didactic. It will include an overview of Bioenergetic theory, demonstration of some Bioenergetic exercises, and a few tools clinicians can begin to use with clients immediately. 4 CEUs for Social Workers and LMHCs.

Date/Time: May 21, 2016; 1:00 – 5:15 PM
Location: Gloucester, MA
Presenters: Laurie Ure, LICSW, CBT and Dan Gross, RNCS

Learn about Somatic Experiencing and the SE Professional Training

This introductory SE workshop is designed for professionals who work with the effects of trauma including: social workers, mental and medical health professionals, body workers, first responders, educators, clergy, and other professionals in the healing arts. Participants will learn about the basic principles and theory of the SE model as well as more about the SE Professional Training.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) psychobiological trauma resolution, developed by Peter A. Levine, PhD, author of the bestseller, “Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma,” is a potent approach to resolving the symptoms of trauma and chronic stress. The SE approach offers a framework to assess where your client is “stuck” in the fight, flight, or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states that underlie so many trauma symptoms. Our educational model is both theoretical and highly experiential, offering you effective skills for restoring nervous system regulation and resolving trauma that can be immediately integrated into your professional practice. The three-year SE™ Professional Training is a continuing education program that will help you make an even greater difference with your clients who suffer.

The Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the worldwide healing and prevention of trauma.
